To me Shangri-la Hotel kinda feels like home, because we used to organize several conferences here and I even stayed in the hotel once. As a teen I always dreamt of working in a hotel as it seems so glamourous, but my friends who work in the indsutry tell me that for staff it’s hardly glamourous as they work on holidays like Christmas and have to enter by the staff entrance from the back, which sucks in most hotels. They also tell me that hotel and F&B staff are very badly paid and I must agree. No wonder there is such a high turnover in the industry.

The Rose Veranda especially always feel cosy and the staff always treat you warmly even if you’re not dressed to the nines. I loathe places that look down on you or act all snooty depending on how you dress.
